Yankee Candle

In a Massachusetts kitchen on a cold December night, 16 year old Mike Kittredge, unable to afford a Christmas gift for his mother, made her a candle from household materials. A neighbour, impressed by the creation, bought it from him. With the money, Mike made two more candles, one for his mum and another to sell and thus, his business began. Eventually, he expanded, creating the famous car air fresheners and turning his small idea into a global brand. Yankee Candle has now become the most recognised name in the candle business in the world.
